The Genesis of City Bumpkins

Originally, I started this project to serve as a guide to Mid-atlantic adventuring in the midst of a quarter-life crisis during COVID-19. I received a bike as a college graduation gift, and the ability to go on local adventures single-handledly kept me sane during the pandemic.

Since then, the project has had several iterations, transforming into a creative outlet for me to document and share multiple facets of my life through writing, photography, and videography, including city life here in Washington D.C., hiking, biking, and ski trips, and even international travel.

Ultimately, the goal is to create a community of people with adventurous spirits, who enjoy urban culture and remote exploration alike—hence the name. I would love to share other work here, so please reach out if you are interested in contributing! According to this ethos, my good friend and artist Kaelan Brown (@kaelanbrown) drew the site logo. Check out his other work!
